Wow! With only 9 days until I’m off to Toronto, here I am writing a new blog post for all of you 🙂 There is a huge festival that happens every year in the city of Burnaby called the Edmonds City Fair and Car Show. I had the honour of judging the annual talent show, meeting significant figures in my community and enjoying the hot summer day. Let me tell you all about it!
As I mentioned earlier, I had the chance to be one of the judges of the annual youth talent show. There were 14 performances and it was a real challenge to narrow it down to the top three! I was absolutely captivated by the singers, dancers and even spoken word poets! Finally, myself and the other judges were able to come up to a unanimous vote of who the winner was. There were also other categories such as most inspirational, best dressed and most energetic. Those categories were even harder to decide the winners for, as there were so many energetic, inspiring and original talents. This experience was a highlight of my day, and I know now how hard it will be for the judges at Miss Teenage Canada to decide on a winner 🙂
I had the opportunity to meet many significant figures in my community, such as city councillors and school trustees. They were all very kind and encouraging towards me and I am truly to be representing Burnaby!
Speaking of representation, there was a multicultural section at the fair with many different nationalities being represented. Being half Chinese and half Korean, those were two booths that I went to observe first! It was great to connect back to where my parents are from and the different cultures that they hold. I also went to the other booths to explore cultures around the world!
One of my sponsors, Play Music Inc. also had a booth for their music school. This may sound a little biased, but I think it was the best decorated booth at the fair! They had lots of awesome and fun products and free face painting!
This is event was one of the best one’s that I’ve been to as I really got to connect with my community, judge a talent show and connect back to my roots! There were also some pretty awesome cars on display 🙂
Well I hope you all enjoyed this blog post! Make sure to like and share my Facebook page if you have the chance, and people’s choice voting will be starting in a week so don’t forget about that 🙂
